Carroll Law Offices consists of two lawyers, Attorney William R. Carroll, Esq. and Attorney Benjamin A. Carroll, Esq., one full-time office manager/administrative assistant, and a number of rotating part-time legal assistants.
Attorney William R. Carroll, Esq.
William R. Carroll has practiced law for over 35 years in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Saint Vincent College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, University of Notre Dame in 1969 with a Masters of Arts in Philosophy, and Duquesne University School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1976. After completion of law school, Attorney William Carroll served as a law clerk for Judge Charles H. Coffroth and Judge Norman A. Shaulis of the Court of Common Pleas of Somerset County for two years, before he began the practice of law in Somerset County.
As a general practioner lawyer, William Carroll possesses a thorough, holistic understanding of all major areas of the law. In his more than 35 years practicing law, he has participated in innumerable civil and family law cases, and, demonstrating his criminal law expertise, he has served as Somerset County's Chief Public Defender since 1990. William Carroll represented the Somerset Area School District from 1978 to 2014 and has represented Shanksville-Stonycreek School District since 1998, Rockwood Borough since 1990, Summit Township since 2008, Somerset County's Prothonotary since 1996, and Somerset County's Sheriff Department since 1996. He has also served as a legal advisor to the officers of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop A and Troop T, Somerset Details since 2001.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Somerset County Bar Association, of which he is a past president. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania School Board Solicitors Association, the Pennsylvania Borough Solicitors Association, and the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Solicitors Association.
Beyond legal expertise, William Carroll served in the United States Army from September 1969 to August 1973. He is active in his local community and Trinity Lutheran Church. Being married for over 30 years and the father of four children, he understands the importance of a compassionate and personal approach to the law. He resides in Somerset with his wife, two notoriously noisy beagles, and one extremely spoiled cat.

Following in his father's footsteps, Benjamin A. Carroll graduated from Saint Vincent College with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2004 with highest honors and earned his Juris Doctor from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2007 with honors.
Benjamin Carroll brings energy and in-depth legal knowledge to Carroll Law Offices. Benjamin Carroll concentrates on Family Law, including Divorce, Custody, and Support. He also represents the firm's school district and municipal clients and often represents clients in criminal, real estate, estate planning, and civil litigation matters. He has been appointed by the Somerset County Court to represent parents and children who are involved in Children and Youth Service proceedings.
Benjamin Carroll is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Assocation and the Somerset County Bar Assocation.
Benjamin Carroll is an active member of and church counsel member at Trinity Lutheran Church and his local community. He lives in Somerset with wife and two cats.
